These tests are for screening. A result is not a diagnosis: only a psychiatrist or psychologist can make one, after talking with you.
Your answers are scored on this device and never sent. Only your result is saved, with the email address you confirm.
Confirm your email address
Before the test we send a 6-digit code to your email address. Your result is saved with it, so that our team can help you if you wish. The email with the code contains no health information.
Show how far you agree with each statement by choosing the option that suits you best.
Choosing an answer takes you to the next question. You can go back at any time.
Your result
Low harm perception (high risk)
Your answers suggest that at present you do not fully notice the harm that risky or harmful behaviour can do to you, and that your level of risk is high. We suggest talking with a specialist about the areas you find difficult; the authors of the scale recommend psychotherapy aimed at the dimension where the problem lies.
Moderate harm perception (moderate risk)
Your answers suggest that your harm perception is moderate and that you carry some risk in certain areas. Talking with a specialist about your risky behaviour and the thoughts that feed it can help you see which dimension needs support.
Well-developed harm perception (low risk)
Your answers suggest that you are aware of the consequences of harmful and risky behaviour and that your level of risk is low. Keeping up this awareness helps you make healthy choices in difficult times too.
Total score
out of 180
Take your result as a rough guide, not a diagnosis. How you feel over time, and a conversation with a specialist, tell much more than a questionnaire.
Talk it through with a specialist
If your result worries you, or you would like to talk it through, our psychiatrists can review it with you, free and without obligation.

About this test
Harm perception is how aware a person is of the harm their own attitudes and actions can do to them; the scale rests on the idea that a behaviour pattern, or the belief that feeds it, cannot be changed while it goes unnoticed. ÜSZARA has 36 items in 10 dimensions and takes about 7 minutes. Scores range from 36 to 180; a higher score means well-developed harm perception and lower risk. The result is not a diagnosis.
