These measure something related, such as specific thoughts or risk factors. They do not screen for this condition.

  • Bipolar Disorder Test (Mood Disorder Questionnaire, MDQ) A 16-question screening questionnaire for bipolar disorder that asks about manic and hypomanic symptoms at any time in your life. About 4 minutes · For adults
  • Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) A 53-item inventory that asks about psychological symptoms in the past week: anxiety, low mood, negative self-image, physical complaints and anger. About 10 minutes · For everyone

Your answers are scored on this device and never sent. Only your result is saved, with the email address you confirm.

How we assess depression

Assessment starts with a detailed psychiatric interview and, where useful, psychological testing, blood tests and brain-based measures such as quantitative EEG. We review how you responded to earlier medication, so that a new plan builds on what has already been tried.

Treatment options

Most people recover with a combination of medication and psychotherapy. When one or more medicines have not helped enough, the team may discuss neuromodulation such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Pharmacogenetic testing can help guide medication choice in selected cases.

Discretion is part of the treatment

Mental health and addiction care depends on trust. We keep it simple: your information is shared only with the people treating you.

  • Your medical records are reviewed only by the clinical team and your coordinator.
  • We never confirm to anyone that you are a patient without your permission.
  • Private rooms, discreet transfers and a single point of contact for your family.
  • Technology Transcranial magnetic stimulation A non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific brain regions, mainly for depression that has not responded to medication.
  • Therapy Psychotherapy CBT, behavioural activation or interpersonal therapy
  • Procedure ECT A treatment given under brief general anaesthesia for severe depression and some other serious psychiatric conditions, especially when other treatments have not worked or a fast response is needed.
