Prof. Dr. Engin Emrem Beştepe is a psychiatrist with a long career in Istanbul’s leading public psychiatric training hospitals.
Education
Born in Ankara on November 6, 1967, Prof. Beştepe attended Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School, studied medicine at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and then specialised in psychiatry at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital. In 1999 Prof. Beştepe held a Family Therapy fellowship at the University of Chicago’s Center for Family Health.
Career
From 1997 to 2013, Prof. Beştepe practised at Bakırköy Prof. Dr. Mazhar Osman Mental and Nervous Diseases Training and Research Hospital. The title of Associate Professor of Psychiatry followed in 2012, and in 2013 came an appointment as education officer at Erenköy Hospital for Mental and Nervous Disorders, together with leadership of its Women’s Ward from 2013 to 2026. In 2021 Prof. Beştepe was appointed to a professorship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Health Sciences (SBÜ).
