These tests are for screening. A result is not a diagnosis: only a psychiatrist or psychologist can make one, after talking with you.
Your answers are scored on this device and never sent. Only your result is saved, with the email address you confirm.
Confirm your email address
Before the test we send a 6-digit code to your email address. Your result is saved with it, so that our team can help you if you wish. The email with the code contains no health information.
For each item, choose how much it has bothered you during the past week, including today.
Choosing an answer takes you to the next question. You can go back at any time.
Your result
Your symptom score
Your total can range from 0 to 212; the higher it is, the more the listed problems bothered you in the past week. The five sub-scale scores show where the distress is concentrated: anxiety, depression, negative self-concept, somatisation (physical complaints) or hostility (anger and resentment). These scores are not a diagnosis; if the symptoms trouble you or affect your daily life, it would help to go through them with a psychiatrist or psychologist.

Take your result as a rough guide, not a diagnosis. How you feel over time, and a conversation with a specialist, tell much more than a questionnaire.
Talk it through with a specialist
If your result worries you, or you would like to talk it through, our psychiatrists can review it with you, free and without obligation.

About this test
The Brief Symptom Inventory was developed by Derogatis and adapted into Turkish by Şahin and Durak (1994); it measures how strongly a range of psychological symptoms were felt over the past week. It has 53 items, takes about 10 minutes and gives a total score plus scores for anxiety, depression, negative self-concept, somatisation and hostility. The result gives an idea of your overall symptom load; it is not a diagnosis.
