These tests are for screening. A result is not a diagnosis: only a psychiatrist or psychologist can make one, after talking with you.

High risk
At least two of the three symptom groups are positive in your answers; on the Berlin Questionnaire this means a high risk of obstructive sleep apnoea. We recommend that you see a sleep specialist and discuss whether you need a sleep study. Once diagnosed, sleep apnoea can be treated effectively.

Talk it through with a specialist
If your result worries you, or you would like to talk it through, our psychiatrists can review it with you, free and without obligation.

About this test
The Berlin Questionnaire was developed to screen the general population for obstructive sleep apnoea (repeated pauses in breathing during sleep). Its 10 questions fall into three groups: snoring and breathing pauses, daytime tiredness, and high blood pressure or obesity; answering them takes about 3 minutes. The risk is considered high when at least two groups are positive; the result is not a diagnosis.
