Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Screening (STOP-Bang)
- 8 questions
- About 2 minutes
- For adults
These tests are for screening. A result is not a diagnosis: only a psychiatrist or psychologist can make one, after talking with you.
Your answers are scored on this device and never sent. Only your result is saved, with the email address you confirm.
Confirm your email address
Before the test we send a 6-digit code to your email address. Your result is saved with it, so that our team can help you if you wish. The email with the code contains no health information.
Answer each question “Yes” or “No” as it applies to you.
Choosing an answer takes you to the next question. You can go back at any time.
Your result
High risk
Your answers show a high risk of obstructive sleep apnoea. We recommend that you see a sleep specialist and discuss whether you need a sleep study (polysomnography). Untreated sleep apnoea can increase daytime sleepiness and the risk of heart and blood vessel disease; effective treatments are available.

Intermediate risk
Your answers show an intermediate risk of obstructive sleep apnoea. We recommend discussing your symptoms with a doctor and, if needed, a sleep specialist; sleep apnoea is confirmed only by a sleep study.
Low risk
Your answers show a low risk of obstructive sleep apnoea. Even so, if you notice loud snoring, pauses in your breathing during sleep or constant sleepiness during the day, talk to a doctor.

Take your result as a rough guide, not a diagnosis. How you feel over time, and a conversation with a specialist, tell much more than a questionnaire.
Talk it through with a specialist
If your result worries you, or you would like to talk it through, our psychiatrists can review it with you, free and without obligation.

About this test
The STOP-Bang questionnaire estimates the risk of obstructive sleep apnoea from snoring, daytime tiredness, pauses in breathing during sleep, high blood pressure, body mass index, age, neck size and sex. Answering the 8 questions takes about 2 minutes. The result is given as low, intermediate or high risk; the diagnosis itself can only be made with a sleep study (polysomnography).
