About

Merve Türkkol Tüzün completed the English-taught Psychology program at Maltepe University with honours. She qualified as a clinical specialist through Üsküdar University's Clinical Psychology master's program, writing her thesis on "Metacognition in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder." In parallel she was admitted to the Cognitive Neuropsychology master's program at Bahçeşehir University, where an experimental thesis, "The Effects of Physiological Arousal on the Inhibition of Low- and High-Intensity Negative Information in Highly Anxious Individuals," earned her the title of Specialist Neuropsychologist.

Psychotherapy training

While working in an adult psychotherapy clinic, she pursued further training. With Prof. Dr. Ebru Şalcıoğlu she completed basic and advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) training for personality disorders and, after supervision, became eligible for psychotherapist certification approved by the European Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies. She then took Basic and Advanced Dynamic Psychotherapy training with Prof. Dr. Doğan Şahin, followed by two years of training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy with Dr. Pervin Sevda Bıkmaz and Prof. Dr. Otto F. Kernberg. Her supervision was conducted with psychoanalyst Prof. Dr. Ülkü Gürışık, a training analyst of the Psike Ankara Association, and she is now supervised by Prof. Dr. Uğur Suzan Girginer.

Career

Ms. Türkkol Tüzün practised as a psychoanalytically oriented adult psychotherapist in a private clinic. In 2022 she became Specialist Neuropsychologist in the Neurology Department of Istanbul Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Sancaktepe Training and Research Hospital. She now works as a Specialist Clinical Neuropsychologist at NPİSTANBUL Hospital and has published scientific articles in Turkish and international journals.
