About

Clinical psychologist Emine Akın Aytop studied psychology in the English-medium department of Işık University's Faculty of Science and Letters on a full scholarship. She graduated on 23 January 2019 at the top of both her faculty and her department. A year later, in January 2020, she finished the teacher training programme at Marmara University.

Postgraduate degrees

Her first master's degree, in clinical psychology (non-thesis track) at Üsküdar University, was awarded with honours on 23 June 2022; her final study was titled "The Development of Cigarette Use as a Stress Coping Mechanism Among Adolescents".

She then completed a second, thesis-based master's degree in applied psychology at Üsküdar University, again with honours, on 26 September 2024. Her thesis was "An Examination of the Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence, Nomophobia, and Social Anxiety".

Experience

As an undergraduate she interned at psychological counselling centres and at special education and rehabilitation centres. Her clinical psychology internship during the master's programme took place at NPİSTANBUL Hospital.

After her bachelor's degree she was a school psychologist at a preschool and later provided psychological counselling to children and adolescents at several educational institutions. Once qualified as a clinical psychologist, she worked with adult clients in Turkish and English on online therapy platforms before seeing adults face to face at a psychological counselling centre.

She has been a clinical psychologist at NPİSTANBUL Hospital since November 2023. Since February 2024 she has also taught a range of courses, in Turkish and in English, at Üsküdar University.
