About
Dr. İnci Birincioğlu was born in Istanbul in 1985. After Cağaloğlu Anadolu High School, she studied psychology at Ege University. Her master's degree came from the Clinical Neuroscience program of Dokuz Eylül University School of Medicine, with the thesis "NIRS Imaging of Impulsivity and Cognitive Performance in Patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder," and in 2012 she was awarded the title of clinical neuropsychologist. In the same year she completed clinical rotations in the Neurology and Psychiatry departments of Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. In 2025 she finished the Ph.D. program in Advanced Neurological Sciences at the Department of Neuroscience, Aziz Sancar Institute of Experimental Medicine, at the same institution; her dissertation was titled "Neuropsychological Assessment and Structural Brain Imaging in Patients with Gambling Disorder."
Clinical focus
Her specialist fields are brain- and body-based psychotherapies, neurobiofeedback, cognitive rehabilitation and social cognition. She works especially with:
- neurodevelopmental and related conditions, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, post-hypoxic cognitive impairment, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, high-functioning autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder and learning disabilities;
- progressive dementia syndromes, including Alzheimer's disease, posterior cortical atrophy, primary progressive aphasia, hydrocephalus and vascular dementia.
Teaching
Dr. Birincioğlu is an assistant professor in the Turkish and English Psychology departments of Üsküdar University's Faculty of Human and Social Sciences. Her undergraduate and graduate courses include Experimental Psychology, Statistics, Neuropsychology, Psychology of Learning, Neurophysiological Foundations of Psychology and Psychodiagnostic Tests. She has been with NPİSTANBUL Hospital and Üsküdar University since 2015.
