About
Clinical psychologist Çiğdem Demirsoy has been part of NP Group since 2001. Since 2014 she has coordinated psychotherapy services at NPİSTANBUL Hospital while continuing her own clinical practice.
Education and early career
Born in Istanbul in 1963, she finished Istanbul Girls’ High School in 1980 and graduated in 1984 from the Department of Psychology in Istanbul University’s Faculty of Letters. In 1984–1985 she volunteered as a psychologist at the Psychiatry Clinic of Istanbul University’s Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, training in psychometric testing in its psychology laboratory.
From 1985 until 1997 she worked as a clinical psychologist in several units of the Department of Psychiatry at Istanbul University’s Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, where she further developed her skills in testing and psychotherapy. In 1996 she received a master’s degree from Istanbul University’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for her thesis “Investigation of Factors Influencing Crime Among Users of Psychoactive Substances.”
Between 1997 and 2000 she was a psychologist at the KASDAV Health Center, run by the Kadıköy Municipality Department of Health Services, and at the municipality’s daycare centres. There she trained in Total Quality Management, acted as total quality secretary for the daycare centres’ quality work, and led seminars for parents on parent–child communication and child-rearing. She left public service of her own choice in 2001.
In the 2001–2002 school year she served as school psychologist at the Private Marmara Elementary School, joining NP Group in the same year.
Clinical work
With adult clients she uses cognitive-behavioural therapy for depression, panic attacks, OCD and other anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder and psychoses, and she also provides therapy for marital, family and sexual difficulties. Trained in neurobiofeedback by Kamran Fallahpour, she applies the method to stress management and the treatment of anxiety disorders.
