About

Clinical psychologist Merve Satan has a strong background in addiction work, with experience across school, counselling and clinical settings.

Education

She graduated in psychology from Istanbul Commerce University in 2011 and completed a teacher training programme at Marmara University in 2012. In 2018 she finished Üsküdar University’s master’s programme in Clinical Psychology with high honours; her thesis examined “Locus of Control and Problem-Solving Skills in Individuals Diagnosed with Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders.”

Experience

Her internships took place at Erenköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital, at NPİSTANBUL Hospital and at many counselling centres. After her bachelor’s degree she worked as a school psychologist and counsellor in several institutions, and she began seeing clients once she had qualified in clinical psychology. Most recently, at the YEŞİLAY (Turkish Green Crescent) counselling centre, she counselled people with addictions and their families, ran group therapy sessions and was responsible for in-house training.

After completing her master’s studies she also volunteered as an assistant on the SAMBART project led by Prof. Dr. Kültegin Ögel.
