These tests are for screening. A result is not a diagnosis: only a psychiatrist or psychologist can make one, after talking with you.
Your answers are scored on this device and never sent. Only your result is saved, with the email address you confirm.
Confirm your email address
Before the test we send a 6-digit code to your email address. Your result is saved with it, so that our team can help you if you wish. The email with the code contains no health information.
Answer each question Yes or No.
Choosing an answer takes you to the next question. You can go back at any time.
Your result
Few signs
You answered 'yes' to fewer than six of the questions. This does not completely rule out clenching or grinding; if you have jaw pain, worn or sensitive teeth or morning headaches, mention them to your dentist at your next check-up.
Most signs present
You answered 'yes' to most of the questions, which fits with clenching or grinding the teeth (bruxism). We recommend seeing a dentist, who can examine your teeth and jaw and, if needed, discuss protection such as a night guard. Because stress and anxiety often play a part, managing stress may also help.
Number of 'yes' answers
out of 10
Take your result as a rough guide, not a diagnosis. How you feel over time, and a conversation with a specialist, tell much more than a questionnaire.
Talk it through with a specialist
If your result worries you, or you would like to talk it through, our psychiatrists can review it with you, free and without obligation.

About this test
Bruxism means clenching, grinding or pressing the teeth together; it can happen without noticing while awake or during sleep, and grinding during sleep is also described as a sleep-related movement disorder. Psychological factors such as stress and anxiety are thought to play a part, and if left untreated it can lead to broken teeth and, later, tooth loss. This checklist has 10 questions, takes about 2 minutes and is not a diagnosis.
